ByThe Courier Reporter
Staff at a bookies in Dundee have been handing out free bets in exchange for dog food.
Ladbrokes in Barnhill collected more than 100 tins, as well as dozens of bags of dry food and treats. They donated the goods to Brown Street Kennels, which rehomes abandoned dogs.
Customer service manager Frankie Crichton said: “We always like to do things for dogs. It’s a very doggy shop.”
Customers who hand in dog food have been offered free bets, depending on how much they donate.
Frankie said: “Some people have been handing in six packs of dog food so they’ll maybe get a free £5 bet.
“Our punters are absolutely fantastic. It’s down to them really. They all have dogs and they all love dogs.”
Manager of Brown Street Kennels Brian Gilmour visited the bookies to collect the donations.
He said: “It’s a great effort. We really appreciate it. It’s absolutely brilliant.”
