Dundee dads saddled up to cycle from John o’ Groats to Land’s End without leaving the city’s velodrome.
Family Guys and some of their children staged the sponsored cycle to raise funds for British Heart Foundation Scotland.
Created by Duncan Crighton at Dundee’s Community Family Support Project, Family Guys have been enjoying more physical activity thanks to support from Active Families, one of the programmes funded through Hearty Lives Dundee.
The BHF has provided £1.3m funding to Hearty Lives Dundee, a partnership with NHS Tayside to help get the city’s people more heart healthy.
Active Families coordinator, Justin Mulholland, said: “Active Families has a cycle appeal where old, unused bikes are donated to the programme for refurbishment and then given to families who don’t have their own bikes.
“We’ve been working with Family Guys as well, to come up with new activities for them and to give them ideas on how to cook healthy food.”
Frankie Ogilvie, of St Mary’s, said: “We want to give something back to say thanks for the opportunities Active Families has given us, so we decided to raise funds for BHF Scotland by getting on our bikes.
“We’ve worked out that we had to cycle something like 3,500 laps of the velodrome to cover the 900-odd miles from John o’ Groats to Land’s End.”
The challenge took place from 7am-7pm on Thursday and Family Guys can be sponsored at their JustGiving page, justgiving.com/ActiveFamilyGuys.
