Legal action against Dundee Olympic star Liz McColgan has been dropped.
The track legend was being pursued by Dundee High School for an amount understood to be almost £10,000. An unpaid debt is believed to have been the cause of the legal action, which was also being taken against Liz’s ex-husband Peter McColgan.
The High School’s civil case against Ms McColgan has now been dismissed. The move comes after Mr McColgan was decreed to pay £9,119.25 to Dundee High School. He must pay the sum by the middle of September this year.
The Olympic medalist said that she had always been confident she did not have a case to answer.
“I had no responsibility for it anyway so I’ve never really been concerned about it,” she said.
“It’s just over and done with now.”
A hearing into Ms McColgan’s case had been due at Arbroath Sheriff Court later this month.
A spokeswoman for the court said: “The proof on April 12 has been discharged and the action has been dismissed in relation to Dundee High School v Elizabeth McColgan.”
It is understood that no expenses are due by her or the High School in relation to the case.
