Cuts to voluntary groups in Dundee will not be repeated
ByAndrew Liddle
Painful cuts to voluntary groups in Dundee will not be repeated next year, the a senior figure in the SNP administration has confirmed.
Finance spokesman Willie Sawers said the move would give third sector organisations “some certainty” for the upcoming financial year.
The decision has been welcomed by voluntary groups, who were among those hit hardest by belt-tightening measures in the last budget.
Almost £1,000,000 was taken away from organisations that received more than £100,000 a year in funding in the 2014/15 budget, with some of the most savagely hit organisations including Gowrie Care, which lost £60,000, and Cornerstone Community Care, which suffered a £50,000 cut.
