Review: The Proclaimers at the Caird Hall

The weather outside may have been atrocious, but the Proclaimers produced a welcome ray of sunshine on Dundee at the Caird Hall last night, writes Alan Wilson, Rocktalk writer.

After hundreds of teenagers piled into the View gig at the Caird Hall for a raucous night on Wednesday, last night was slightly less frenetic as their mums, dads and even their grannies sang along to Craig and Charlie Reid’s quality tunes.

As Christmas cheer goes, a Proclaimers gig cannot be over-estimated, and the 2,000 or so joyful smiles said it all as fans clapped and danced throughout the 90-minute set.

There was even a wedding proposal read out by Charlie prior to Let’s Get Married, while there was a spirited conga at the back of the hall for There’s A Touch.

All the old rousing favourites were there along with some slightly less well-known tracks.

Surrounded by a top bunch of musicians, with nine albums of inspiring songs and of course, superb vocal harmonies, The Proclaimers can do no wrong in the eyes of their still huge fanbase.

After 25 years, it all shows no sign of slowing down.

Unlike snow at Christmas, you can rely on the Proclaimers.
