BOY SCOUTS are famous for getting the job done but expecting intrepid members in Broughty Ferry to deliver Christmas cards as far away as Hampshire is a task too far.
That’s what one customer has done at this year’s Christmas post service run by the Broughty Scouts.
They have also received cards for delivery to addresses in Forfar and Kirkcaldy, but the furthest is for the county in the south of England.
Organiser David Reid said the Broughty Scouts Christmas mail service has been extended this year to include Monifieth in an arrangement with fellow Scouts in the Angus burgh.
“We’re not going as far as Hampshire, though we made the limits of our delivery service clear, which is basically Broughty Ferry, with any cards for people in Monifieth being handed over to the Angus Scouts for delivery by them.
“We’re now asking the people who gave us the cards for Forfar, Kirkcaldy and for Hampshire to collect them from us.”
The Broughty Scouts began their post service 15 years ago and last year the 25th, 45th and 49th Scout groups and Broughty Ferry Explorers have been delivering them to an area bordered by Ralston Road, Grange Road, Arbroath Road including the new housing at Clearwater Park, Ferry Fields and Balmossie Green, as well as to Monifieth.
Those who sent cards for delivery to the other destinations have been invited to collect them from the Scout Hall in David Street, Broughty Ferry.
