A HOST of Scottish football figures joined the family of Charlie Adam senior at the weekend to pay their final respects to the former Dundee United midfielder.
Hundreds of mourners packed into Our Lady of Sorrows RC Church on Saturday at a funeral mass for the 50-year-old, who died suddenly last week.
The large turnout, which included friends, Fintry neighbours and sporting figures both past and present, was a testament to the strength of feeling in the city towards the popular former player.
Eulogies were delivered by two of Mr Adam Sr’s children, Charlie and Grant, who are both professional footballers.
Cars were parked end-to-end in the surrounding streets as the mourners made their way under overcast skies to the mass, which was conducted by Father Martin Pletts.
A large crowd gathered outside the church as Mr Adam senior’s family arrived shortly before 9.30am.
Among those in attendance were former Dundee United players Hamish McAlpine, David Narey, Ray McKinnon, Allan Preston and Grant Johnston as well as former Dundee FC manager Jocky Scott.
