PLANNING permission has been granted for a trio of wind turbines at Ethiebeaton Farm.
Applicant David Reid intends to install the 21.5m-high turbines, each of which would have an 11-kilowatt generating capacity.
A previous attempt to gain consent for taller equipment was refused after the Ministry of Defence warned it would cause interference with air traffic control radar at RAF Leuchars.
Mr Reid’s agents Gaia-Wind Turbines said: “The production of electricity will assist the owners of the property to achieve a viable and sustainable source of power.
“The location of the turbines has been chosen to ensure that it has the least visual impact possible on the surrounding area, while being able to capture the benefits of the prevailing south-westerly wind.”
An Angus Council planning officer said: “At 21.5m in height to blade-tip I consider the proposed turbines to generally be in scale with the landscape and I do not consider they will dominate the landscape.
“The turbines will be visible from public places, including public roads.
“However given their comparatively limited height and having regard to the positive approach towards wind turbines advocated by both national and local policy, I do not consider that they will give rise to unacceptable visual impacts.”
