STARCROSSED, one of the winning games from Dare to be Digital 2012, has been commercially released for Microsoft’s Windows Phone Marketplace.
The game was created by Kind of a Big Deal, the Finnish team of first year students entered at the competition.
Fifteen teams of students from across the world travel annually to Abertay University to build a game in just nine weeks, with three winners then nominated for the exclusive Bafta Ones to Watch award.
Kind of a Big Deal’s Kimi Sulopuisto said: “I’d encourage anyone looking to make their own games to enter Dare to be Digital, you’ve nothing to lose, and you could win so much.”
Starcrossed is a 2D game where a crash-landed astronaut is guided back to his home planet, using a rocket launcher to send him flying through space from one asteroid to another.
Kind of a Big Deal were supported to take part in Dare to be Digital 2012 by the Scottish Government as this year’s Nordic competitor and the team included a Scottish ambassador.
