POLICE LAST night warned people to beef up their home security following a series of break-ins in the Stobswell area.
In recent weeks there have been several “high-value” thefts from houses in Clepington Road, Pitkerro Road and Forfar Road.
Properties have been targeted during the night and in the early morning.
In yesterday’s Courier we reported how a Forfar Road householder was woken at 8am on Wednesday to see an intruder make off with several items, including her handbag with her purse and phone and her son-in-law’s leather jacket.
Detective Constable Barry Shepheard said: “I’d like to take the opportunity to remind people about security.
“Please take every sensible precaution to ensure you are not a victim of crime. If you go out, make sure that your home still appears to be occupied, even if it isn’t.
“Close and lock windows. If you have an alarm use it. Set lights and perhaps a radio on timer switches and consider fitting outside lights.”
The community safety team can supply a range of home security devices, including timer switches.
