DUNDEE’S “PASSIONATE” ambassadors were given a greater understanding of the city’s vision for the future at a special welcoming reception on Friday night.
Around 40 of the city’s ambassadors came together for the reception, which was aimed at updating them on the latest news surrounding the waterfront and V&A projects and giving them the chance to share ideas for the One City Many Discoveries campaign.
The ambassadors, who were chosen as “inspirational individuals who represent Dundee’s many faces and who share a passion and a pride in the city,” were welcomed by Andy Lothian of Insights Learning Development at Discovery Point.
Mr Lothian was one of the first Dundee ambassadors and he said: “The list of people willing to be city ambassadors is continuing to grow and it’s fantastic to read the profiles of so many people who are totally committed to the city, both those who were born and bred here and those who have made it their adopted home.
“There is no substitute for true passion and that’s what we had in abundance here tonight.”
Among the other ambassadors who attended were broadcaster and writer Lesley Riddoch and fashion designer Hayley Scanlon, along with two of the newest ambassadors, David and Michael Romilly of Waracle Games and Apps.
However, one of the more prominent ambassadors, Lorraine Kelly, was unable to attend as she was stuck in London due to the weather.
Those who were in attendance were given an update on the latest news on the Waterfront and V&A projects and the chance to talk and share ideas and innovative ways of supporting the One City Many Discoveries campaign.
Will Dawson, Dundee City Development convener, said: “Our ambassadors do a great job for the campaign and the city and this event is a chance to thank them for the work they do.
“As they help support the city locally, nationally and internationally they will have a greater understanding of our city’s vision for the future.”
“The ambassadors, along with the many friends which the city has, then use all the tools available to them including social media to spread the word about the huge positive changes happening in our city.”
