An escaped baby snake has been discovered by a shocked caretaker in a block of flats in Dundee. The creature was found in a corridor at Bonnethill Court multi-storey in Hilltown. The corn snake, which has been nicknamed Shoelace, was collected by animal rescue officer Sharon McKenzie. The snake is now recovering at the Scottish SPCA’s animal rescue and rehoming centre in Balerno, on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Ms McKenzie said: “Shoelace was lucky to be found, as it’s only a hatchling and not much bigger than a worm.” Scottish SPCA staff said they believe the orange and white creature may have escaped his enclosure. Ms McKenzie added: “It’s very likely that this little one has managed to break from its vivarium. “We’d encourage this snake’s owner to contact us, but if no one comes forward we’ll secure a loving new home.” Anyone who recognises Shoelace should call the Scottish SPCA helpline on 03000 999999.
