A mugging victim has spoken of feeling “terrified” after being assaulted and robbed outside the Sainsbury’s supermarket in Dundee.
Catherine Hendry (54), from Newport, was pushed from behind by a hooded man and had her purse grabbed from her hand at around 6.40pm on Tuesday.
It is thought she was the man’s second victim, as police believe he was also responsible for stealing a bag from a 27-year-old woman in nearby Baldovie Street only 30 minutes earlier.
Ms Hendry said: “I had put the shopping in the car and was putting my purse back in my bag when I felt myself get pushed from the right-hand side on the shoulder.
“Then I felt my hand get grabbed and I could feel he had a glove on.
“It happened that quickly. At first I thought it was someone I knew that was nudging me just as a bit of banter and then I realised my purse had gone.”
Another shopper chased the thief but was unable to catch him.
Ms Hendry, who is a social care worker, said: “I couldn’t believe it happened. My hands kept shaking.
“I keep imagining the hand over mine again. It is a horrible feeling.”
Police are still hunting the suspect, who is 5ft 10in and slim. He wore a black hooded top, a black hat, dark jeans, white trainers and black gloves.
