Residents hit out after a spate of fires at Dundee flats

Angry residents have hit out after their building was targeted in a spate of fires.
Police are on alert following a series of three fires in eight days in bin chutes and rubbish piles at the block of flats on Brown Street.
Residents have criticised the “selfish and inconsiderate actions of firebugs”, who they said were putting everyone in danger.
Joanne Reilly (31) said: “One day I got home and all the rubbish in the courtyard was melted.
“Another time I came back and there was a really bad smell of smoke in the lift. It is just mindless and inconsiderate. It is also partly the fault of people who live here leaving the rubbish just lying around.”
Blackness Fire Station manager Scott Symon said the fires could have serious consequences.
He said: “We want to find out who is starting them. We also want to raise awareness among the residents not to leave rubbish around.”
