A man caught with more than 60 hours’ worth of child abuse videos and “extreme porn” was arrested as he stepped off a holiday flight with his girlfriend, a court has heard.
Edward Campbell is facing a jail term after being found with hundreds of sick videos of children as well as other twisted images of women and animals.
Campbell (41), of Union Place, Dundee, admitted on indictment that he downloaded and distributed indecent images of children between February 19 and March 27 last year.
He further admitted that on April 4 last year, he was in possession of extreme pornography depicting sex between women and animals.
Campbell told police who arrested him at Glasgow Airport last year that he “had a problem” with porn and had resorted to downloading “new and extreme” images.
Police had burst down the door of Campbell’s home while he was on holiday with his partner after a tip-off.
They found hard drives packed with the horrific abuse images at his home in Dundee’s Union Place.
Depute fiscal Susan Ruta told Dundee Sheriff Court: “On March 27 last year intelligence was received that an IP address registered to the accused at his home address had persistently accessed file sharing networks to download and share high volumes or indecent images of children.
“On April 3 police officers obtained a warrant to search his home. There was no response at his address and his work said he was on holiday.
“Entry was forced and computer equipment was seized. A preliminary examination was carried out and it was established that it contained indecent images of children.
“It was established that he was due to return from holiday on April 11 at 5.10pm. Around 5.30pm he disembarked a flight at Glasgow Airport with his partner. He was traced by detectives and conveyed to a private side room.
“He admitted he had had a problem with pornography for a number of years and had begun downloading more extreme images and videos.
“A full examination of his computer was undertaken and there were 392 indecent images of children at all levels of the scale. A second hard drive contained 1,571 images.”
Sheriff Tom Hughes continued the case until April for social work background reports and continued his bail.
