The shutters will be pulled down at City Newsagents for the final time this weekend, as the shop is closing after serving people for 25 years.
Sefi Akram has worked in the shop on Nethergate with his dad, Mohammed Ali, 59, for a number of years and explained that a lot had changed over that time.
“The arts centre across the road used to be a skatepark and most of the shops have changed,” he said.
Sefi said the shop was closing due to his dad’s retirement. He said: “My dad has decided to retire and we all have other jobs.
“I work on the taxis and it would just be too much to try to do both.”
