Traffic on the Tay Road Bridge has increased by just over 2% since the abolition of the tolls three years ago, the bridge joint board will hear today.
Despite the severe weather this winter, which severely reduced traffic on the bridge for several weeks, there was an increase of 0.3% over last year, bridge manager Iain Mackinnon says.
In his report to the board today, Mr Mackinnon says the increase over the past three years of 2.2% can be split into 0.9% southbound and 1.3% northbound.
Prior to the abolition of tolls, northbound traffic always exceeded southbound by up to 5%, he states.
The new figures “indicate that traffic growth has evened out over the past three years,” he adds.
