A Dundee couple have celebrated their blue sapphire wedding anniversary after 65 years together.
John and Christina Scott, known as Jack and Chris, were married in Broughty Ferry in 1946 after Mr Scott returned from the second world war he was 32 and his wife was 18.
Mr Scott, who turned 96 in March, volunteered for the army in 1940 and fought in Egypt, Palestine, Syria, Lebanon and Italy. After the war he settled down with Mrs Scott and worked as a machinist and later a foreman at Dundee timber merchants Bell & Sime.
Mrs Scott, now 83, worked in various shops before she became a book-keeper, remaining in that role until retirement.
The pair had four children Ian, Glen, Anne and June who have in turn given them six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
“It’s getting more and more expensive for Christmases and birthdays!” said Mr Scott. “Even the cards add up.”
The pair put their longevity down to clean living.
Mrs Scott joked, “We’ve never argued about money. He knew to hand his pay over to me and I’d give him his pocket money.”
