Nine vehicles were damaged and a woman injured in a string of smashes on Arbroath Road on Wednesday morning.
A female driver was treated for chest pains after she was involved in a three-car collision near Gotterstone Avenue.
Police attended after a blue Mini, a grey BMW and a black Nissan were involved in the accident shortly after 9.30am.
A spokesman confirmed the woman’s injuries were not thought to be life-threatening. The other two drivers were unhurt.
It was the last of an hour of crashes on the busy road. Emergency services were first called to a two-vehicle crash near the same junction at 8.30am. Neither driver was injured.
As police dealt with the initial incident another two cars crashed nearby. Again, both drivers were uninjured.
Another smash happened near the Scott Fyffe roundabout around 9am. A car and a delivery lorry were coming off the roundabout on to the Arbroath Road when the accident occurred.
The car’s 21-year-old male driver was uninjured but its nearside bumper was damaged. The 40-year-old delivery driver was also unhurt.
Police attended and the fire and rescue service sent an appliance from nearby Kingsway East station to clear a petrol spillage but the road remained open to traffic.
Another two cars collided on the Arbroath Road, near Dalkeith Road, at lunchtime.
Police attended the crash near Baxter Park to clear traffic while drivers waited for their vehicles to be uplifted. No one was hurt.
