Eastbound commuters appeared to be heeding police pleas for patience as they endured lengthy hold-ups during Wednesday’s rush hour.
Queues started to form in Broughty Ferry Road by 4.30pm, but drivers appeared to be taking the delays in their stride, with police reporting no major issues.
The jams were due to the closure of Arbroath Road eastwards between the Claypotts junction and the Scott Fyffe roundabout to allow for resurfacing work.
During the closure, which is expected to continue for several days, traffic is being diverted via Douglas Road, Drumgeith Road and Baldovie Road.
Most roads in the area have been experiencing heavier traffic than usual, as motorists try to find the fastest way home.
Inspector Gordon Taylor, head of road policing in Dundee, said officers were monitoring the situation.
“Arbroath Road is obviously the scene of increased traffic as a consequence of the roadworks,” he said. “We are asking drivers to be patient as it will improve the condition of the road.
“People who use that route will see it was in great need of repair. We are monitoring roads and I am sure everyone is dealing with the diversions very well.”Do you have a differing opinion of how the roadworks are affecting your day?
