Pupils are facing over an hour’s journey to get to school after National Express Dundee removed a dedicated bus service.
Parents in the west end raised concerns after the 4S bus service which served St John’s High School was taken off last week because it wasn’t financially viable.
Although pupils can travel on alternative routes, parents say youngsters are now experiencing much longer journeys to get to school.
Gordon Sharp (57), a council worker, said his 14-year-old daughter is now being driven to school.
“The new service 26 that pupils can get has to travel right through the west end, into Ninewells and through Charleston before it arrives at St John’s,” he said.
West End councillor Richard McCready said: “I have been approached by a number of parents who are worried it now takes over an hour to get to St John’s High School from the west end by public transport.”
A National Express Dundee spokeswoman said: “Unfortunately, due to a long-term decline in patronage on routes 4 and 4S, they were no longer financially viable to operate.
“Alternatives to service 4S enable students attending St John’s High to use Service 5 to the city centre where they can connect with services 1A and 1B to continue their journey to St Johns High School.”
