The next phase of works at Dundee’s central waterfront will get under way next month.
It will see drivers having to cope with off-peak lane closures and a start made to getting rid of a footbridge over South Marketgait.
The works are part of a long-term scheme to transform the area, creating a new street layout and linking the city centre with the river. The revamp will also provide a setting for the planned £45 million V&A museum.
The road realignment will require lane closures at and on the approaches to the Riverside roundabout from January 10, lasting until the end of May. These will take place at various times between 9.30am and 3.30pm.
The restrictions will also allow contractors to get on with demolition works at the site of Tayside House, the former city council office block.
Later in the month, the Tay Road Bridge on-ramp at Customs House will be closed occasionally between 7pm and 5am and between 9.30am and 3.30pm as it is widened to accommodate two lanes of traffic.
Contractors Safedem will also start removing the footbridge between Tayside House and the Earl Grey Place car park, which will mean overnight closures of South Marketgait on January 17, 18 and 19.
All traffic, including drivers using the Tay Road Bridge, will be diverted using the ring road.
Demolition work on the podium block and the footbridge connecting it to Tayside House is scheduled for February.
