A 35-year-old man has been arrested by police after an incident at a Dundee B&Q store on Friday evening.
The incident happened in the Kingsway East DIY store just before it closed at 8pm and sparked off a major police operation with armed officers called to the scene.
A 40-year-old male worker was taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital where he was described as being in a serious condition.
On Saturday morning, police said a 35-year-old man had been arrested and is expected to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court on Monday.
Police sent all available officers to the scene at the Milton of Craigie retail park and within minutes there were more than a dozen vehicles in the public car park at the front and in access roads at the side and rear.
They included armed officers in helmets and carrying semi-automatic rifles, sidearms, tasers and baton rounds.
There were also police dogs which could be heard barking as they searched the premises.
All exits were sealed off as officers carried out a painstaking search of the inside of the store as well as the garden centre at the rear.
