A woman has denied causing the death of a Dundee primary school teacher by driving carelessly.
Jacqueline Davidson (48), of Albany Road, Broughty Ferry, has been charged with causing the death of Lorna Grant on the A92 on August 29 2010 by driving without due care and attention and without reasonable consideration for other road users.
Her solicitor, Alan Davie, told Cupar Sheriff Court on Thursday that she has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Davidson, who was driving a Volvo people carrier, is accused of crossing on to the opposite carriageway on the A92 Glenrothes to Dundee between the Five Roads and Forgan roundabouts, causing her vehicle to collide with the Renault Clio being driven by Ms Grant in the opposite direction.
Ms Grant (34), who taught at Fintry Primary School, suffered fatal injuries, while five children who were in the Volvo suffered varying injuries.
Two of the youngsters, all of whom were nine-year-old when the incident happened, were slightly injured. Another two were severely injured and one was severely injured and suffered permanent impairment in the crash.
Fire crews took over an hour to free Ms Grant from the wreckage using cutting equipment but she died after being airlifted to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
Hearing the case at Cupar, Sheriff Charles Macnair adjourned proceedings and set a trial date of April 23, also continuing Davidson’s bail.
