A family involved in a Broughty Ferry car crash have thanked the good Samaritans who helped them.
Belinda Carver was driving with daughter Abbie (24) and grandchildren Ellie (5) and Hannah (3) when they were involved in a collision with another vehicle on Saturday.
Their Ford Galaxy car was flipped on to its side and scraped across the road during the dramatic incident at the junction of Abertay Street and Panmure Terrace.
Belinda, a customer assistant from Monifieth, said: ”My two grandkids were screaming in the back of the car.
”It happened in seconds. We were just worried about getting the girls out the car. The doors were stuck but passersby helped us get the kids out through the back windows.”
As Abbie and Belinda were still trapped inside the car, the youngsters were looked after by passersby and their nursery teacher Carol Storrier who was passing at the time of the accident.
Nearby residents also came to the family’s aid and one man tried to free them with a pick-axe before emergency services arrived.
Belinda (53) added: ”People were amazing. They were coming out of their houses and bringing blankets for the girls.”
The family were treated for minor cuts and bruises.
