The X Factor hit Dundee on Saturday only to be met with a disappointing turn-out.
Unlike the lines of would-be starlets seen snaking outside Glasgow’s SECC, the Dundee venture was a bit of a damp squib.
Two tents were set up outside the Wellgate shopping centre for four hours as wannabes took it in turns to try out at the mobile audition.
One singer who made it through to the next round was 28-year-old Brian James.
He said: ”I’m really excited. I sang Feeling Good and Shine. The woman said she liked my voice and said I was through to the next round. I was expecting thousands of people here though and there were hardly any.”
Brian has previously entered Britain’s Got Talent and got as far as the judges round.
”I’m determined,” he said. ”I’m an actor first but I was always able to sing so I got involved in musical theatre and I just keep on trying these competitions.”
Videos of Brian’s auditions will now be sent to the show’s producers who will decide if he will get a call back for the live auditions.
Also trying out was Brian’s mum Pauline Leys and her friend Linda Taylor but they were turned down twice.
Pauline said: ”That’s okay, we’re auditioning again and we’re not allowing our dream to die.”
