Demolition firm denies any role in Virgin Media connection problems in Dundee

There is confusion over what caused hundreds of Virgin Media customers in Dundee to lose their television, broadband and phone connections earlier this week.
Virgin Media says the sudden outage which hit customers across the city at around lunchtime on Tuesday and was restored early on Wednesday morning was caused by workers clearing the demolition site on Alexander Street.
But a spokesman for Safedem, the company which demolished four multi-storey buildings last August, stressed its workforce was not responsible.
Virgin Media sent an engineering team to fix the ”fibre break” shortly after it was reported. They worked late into Tuesday evening as frustrated customers flooded the Virgin Media switchboard.
A spokesman for the firm said: ”Engineers attending the location of the damage discovered our fibre optic cables had been damaged and urgently commenced repairs.”
In terms of compensation, Virgin Media said it deals with each case individually when customers call in.
