Motorists in Dundee face continued disruption after contractors confirmed that a major set of roadworks will not be completed on time.
Work at Greendykes Road, originally scheduled to have been completed this week, will continue for a further fortnight due to logistical problems.
The southbound stretch of the route has been closed to traffic for the past six weeks while Broughty Ferry Road has been reduced to a single lane eastbound, causing significant delays during rush hour.
However, due to problems with diverting underground cables and pipes, Carillion, the contractor conducting the work on behalf of Dundee City Council, has estimated that a further fortnight will be needed to complete the project.
The company has also confirmed that staff will be working extended hours at to minimise the duration of the closure.
The work will see the creation of a right turn lane on Broughty Ferry Road, allowing traffic to access Greendykes Road directly.
Southbound traffic between Scott Fyffe Roundabout and Broughty Ferry Road is being diverted via Craigie Avenue. Greendykes Road remains open northbound.
The work, which is also associated with access improvements to Dundee port, is now set to be completed by June 4.
