Dundee man to face trial accused of offering to buy child

A man is to stand trial accused of stalking his former partner over a 14-month period then offering to buy their child for a ”large sum of money.”
The 32-year-old man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his child, is alleged to have targeted the woman between January last year and March this year at locations across Dundee.
It is alleged he repeatedly loitered around the woman’s house and went to her door, as well as threatening her and verbally abusing her.
The charge further accuses the man of repeatedly following the woman and her children.
It is alleged he then had others deliver a string of gifts to the woman on his behalf and request to meet her and their children.
Prosecutors say the man repeatedly sent the woman text messages including one in which he ”offered to buy their child for a large sum of money.”
The man, from Dundee, denies a charge of engaging in a course of conduct that would cause fear and alarm to his former partner.
On Wednesday, fiscal depute Donna Davidson asked that a further court date be fixed as the case was prepared for trial.
Sheriff Derek Pyle at Dundee continued the case to a further pre-trial hearing in June.
