Emergency services plucked a 50-year-old man to safety from the River Tay.
Police and lifeboat crews were called after a man was spotted in the water at the shore near Dundee Airport on Thursday.
A staff member from the airport on Riverside Drive raised the alarm after becoming concerned for the man’s safety.
Officers raced to the scene at around 9.45am, alongside a paramedic crew.
Both vessels from Broughty Ferry lifeboat station were also deployed, but police had retrieved the man from the river by the time of the lifeboats’ arrival.
The man was then transferred to Ninewells Hospital for treatment.
A police spokesman said: ”Tayside Police can confirm they attended along with other emergency services at Riverside Drive at 9.45am following concerns for a man and he was taken to Ninewells Hospital.”
The watch manager at Dundee Airport fire station, Gary Johnstone, said emergency services arrived quickly after the man was seen near the shore.
He said: ”Someone from the airport spotted a man in the water and contacted Tayside Police, who attended to him after we passed on the information.”
Firefighters were also called but the man was brought to safety before their arrival.
