One of the main routes into Dundee city centre will be closed for six weeks from today.
Westbound traffic will be barred from Victoria Road between Ladywell Avenue and Panmure Street due to work to replace a gas main.
Eastbound drivers heading out of the city centre will be able to carry on as normal but Hilltown will be closed at its junction with Victoria Road for the duration of the works.
National Express Dundee has announced changes to some of its routes as a result of the roadworks.
Services out of the city centre will still use Victoria Road but the bus stops opposite the Wellgate will be closed. Instead there will be stops further up the road near Nelson Street.
All inbound services the 1a, 1b, 1c, 17, 18, 19, 21, x39, 137, 137a, 138 and 139 will operate as normal until Dens Road, then take a diversion.
They will go via Arthurstone Terrace, Albert Street, Princes Street, King Street, St Andrews Street, Seagate and then to Commercial Street, Shore Terrace and the normal route. Service 1c will go via Commercial Street to Dundee High School.
The outbound 4 service will be diverted via Victoria Road, Dens Road, Alexander Street, Hilltown and then back to its normal route.
The inbound 4 will be diverted from the Hilltown to Alexander Street, Dens Road, Arthurstone Terrace, Albert Street, Princes Street, King Street, St Andrews Street and Seagate.
National Express Dundee said: ”Due to the extent of these diversions we would like to apologise in advance as this service may incur reliability issues but please be assured that we will do our utmost to keep the service operating at all times.”
Bus services in Lochee will also be altered for three days from today.
The stop near Adamson Court will be closed for the installation of a new pedestrian crossing.
”The existing layby and bus shelter will be relocated further down towards South Road,” National Express added. ”During the works a temporary bus stop will be located near by and buses will be required to stop in the ‘live’ lane for all passengers.”
