A young Dundee girl’s first music festival experience was ruined when she was struck by a flying bottle at T in the Park on Sunday.
Morgan Cullen (16) was led from the main stage crowd covered in blood and ended up at the accident and emergency department at Ninewells Hospital to get the large cut stitched after attempts to glue it failed.
Former Harris Academy pupil Morgan said she has felt sick ever since and has a big bruise on her forehead.
”It was like something out of a horror movie,” she said. ”We were in the mosh pit and I didn’t realise I got hit by a bottle because I was getting thrown about and bumped into a lot.
”I put my hand on my head and it was covered in blood. An older girl came over and covered it with a T-shirt or something and pulled me to the side.
”She took me to the first aid tent with my friends. The blood was all over my face and my head started to hurt once I had been told about it.
”The first aid people put a dressing on it and took me to the hospital tent. They glued it together there and I went back to see Nicki Minaj.
”I thought I was going to miss her because I was at the first aid but she was delayed so we went to see her.
”Then it opened up again and the blood was all over me so we left and the first aid people put something else on it. I went to A&E at Ninewells where they put paper stitches on it.
”I’ve got a big lump on my head and it’s quite painful now my mum says it’s starting to bruise now.”
Morgan said she has been sick quite a lot since it happened but despite her ordeal it hasn’t put her off going back to T in the Park.
She also agreed it could have been a lot worse, especially if the bottle had struck a younger person.
”I think it’s quite bad that somebody threw a bottle. You’re not even meant to be allowed to have glass in the site.
”My friend said it was thrown from far away and I suppose it was quite unlucky that it hit me.
”I was watching Chase and Status at the main stage about teatime when it happened. I was there with quite a few of my friends but we weren’t camping.
”I’ve been to a few gigs before but I’ve never been to a festival so it spoiled it for me. I didn’t go to see anybody else after Nicki Minaj, I just wanted to come home.
”But apart from that the festival was great and I want to go back next year.”
