Dundee lecture to reveal the story behind the British Newspaper Archive

The history of newspaper archives and how they are being updated for the digital world will be explored at a lecture next month.
Chris van der Kuyl, the chief executive of Dundee-based online publishing and technology company brightsolid, will be giving one in the series of Armitstead lectures entitled, The British Newspaper Archive: Creating a 21st Century Business Out of Old News.
The lecture will look at: The background to the project and the British Library/brightsolid collaboration The physical to digital journey how we do it Brief overview of the website and next steps for the project Bringing history to life through the archive a newspaper portrait of Baron George Armitstead (”Lord Dundee”).
The talk takes place at the D’Arcy Thompson Lecture Theatre on Friday, November 9, starting at 7.30pm.
