A disqualified Dundee driver who drove at twice the drink-drive limit at speeds of up to 100mph has been given a lifetime driving ban.
Alan Scott (26), of St Fillans Place, was also placed on a three-year community payback order, requiring him to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work, with supervision and mental health requirements.
Scott admitted that on February 25 on the A92 Dundee to Arbroath road, the B961, the unclassified road between Ethiebeaton, Monifieth, the B961, and elsewhere, he drove while disqualified.
He further admitted driving without insurance, at excessive speeds and with excess alcohol (71 mics). The legal limit is 35 mics.
Depute fiscal Arlene Shaw told Arbroath Sheriff Court on Tuesday that Scott was seen by an off-duty police officer driving “very erratically and at excessive speed.”
On the A92 heading towards Dundee, Ms Shaw said, a marked police car began following Scott in excess of 100mph.
At the Grange Road junction the police put on their blue lights and Scott continued driving at around 90mph before slowing down and pulling in and stopping.
Police asked if he had been drinking and he indicated that he had.
