Dundee Sheriff Court has heard how a woman was found with a Samurai sword in her car.
Mary White (56), of Arklay Street, admitted being in possession of the blade at Kirkconnel Terrace, on Friday.
The depute fiscal said White had been seen driving by police on a mobile patrol at around 11.30 that morning when she was stopped.
The three other occupants of the vehicle were detained over alleged drugs offences, but as officers searched the car they found the 18in sword under the passenger seat. The sheath was found in the passenger footwell.
After her arrest, White told officers she knew the sword was in the car but did not know it was under the passenger seat.
A defence agent for White said the sword was an ornamental item and that White had intended to remove it from her vehicle.
Sheriff Alistair Duff said: “Half the people in Dundee seem to have Samurai swords,” and called for reports ahead of White’s next appearance on September 22.
