Council approves 57ft mobile phone mast in Broughty Ferry

Dundee City Council has approved the installation of a 57ft mobile phone mast in Broughty Ferry.
The 3G mast will be sited in the McCabe & Robertson joinery yard in Panmure Street and will be shared by Vodafone and Telefonica (O2).
The development will include two ground-level cabinets and the compound will be surrounded by a 1.8m fence. Access will be through gates at a new opening in the brick boundary wall.
Approving the application, the council said the site lies in a small area of industrial and commercial yards and buildings and, while there are houses to the east, it is not considered to be a housing area.
The nearest house is 28 metres away to the north, across the main Dundee-Aberdeen railway line, and is screened by trees.
Neither Vodafone nor Telefonica has any existing 3G installations in this part of Broughty Ferry which could be used for mast sharing and no objections to the Panmure Street proposal were received.
