A Hilltown man has been found guilty of rape by a jury at the High Court in Dundee.
Joyned Miah (51), of Butterburn Square, was remanded in custody by Lord Doherty following the majority verdict, after the jury took just over two hours to reach its decision.
Miah was found guilty of, between October 17 and 19 2009, in Blackness Road, assaulting a woman and raping her.
During the trial the court heard evidence from the victim and several other witnesses. Miah did not take the witness stand in his own defence.
Advocate depute Richard Goddard moved for sentence, stating that Miah was a single man and was formerly a chef at an Indian restaurant in the city.
He said he had three previous convictions, including one at the High Court, although it was for a crime of dishonesty and therefore non-analagous.
Defence advocate Jonathan Crowe said he would address the judge when Miah appeared for sentence on April 11 at the High Court in Edinburgh.
