A 13-year-old boy was arrested at Broughty Ferry beach on Saturday after allegedly assaulting two police officers while ”under the influence”.
Onlookers dialled 999 and called for an ambulance and the police amid fears that the boy had been suffering from an epileptic fit, The Courier was told.
An ambulance spokeswoman said they had received several calls to the incident and had attended at around 5.40pm, but had not taken the youth to hospital.
One onlooker said: ”It looked as though the boy was really unwell and people were trying to help him. Paramedics and the police arrived and everybody just left them to it.”
A police spokesman said: ”Tayside Police attended near to Broughty Ferry Castle about 5.40pm on Saturday, May 26, as paramedics attended to a teenage boy who had apparently taken unwell.
”The 13-year-old, who appeared to be under the influence, was subsequently arrested for police assault and the matter has been reported to the youth justice assessor for further consideration.”
