An elderly Dundee man who had been reported missing from home for two days was found dead on Saturday.
John Bell (70) was discovered in the Clearwater Park area north of the A92 Dundee to Arbroath road.
Mr Bell, who used crutches to get about, had last been seen at his home in Douglas on Thursday and his concerned family and friends contacted police.
An appeal for information was released on Saturday morning but, tragically, his body was found a short time later.
Neighbours said Mr Bell was a quiet and private man who only moved to the area a short time ago. However, they added he was not short on friends and family, who visited him regularly.
Upstairs neighbour Elaine Anderson said, “He seemed a quiet man that kept himself to himself. I was shocked when I heard about what happened.
“He had a lot of family and quite a lot of friends that were coming and going.”
Another neighbour, Iordan Cireasa said, “I have seen him just three or four times walking on his pathway because he was quite disabled.
“The last time I saw him was when he was supervising some boys who were cutting his grass and doing work in his garden but I haven’t seen him for a long period of time.
“I didn’t know him particularly well just to say hi.”
A police spokesman said there were no suspicious circumstances.
