A Dundee man has tragically lost his fight for life after suffering a head injury in an incident in central London.
David Forbes, who was 42, had been in the intensive care unit of Royal London Hospital since Sunday November 25 but succumbed to his injuries on Friday night.
The Metropolitan Police said a 22-year-old man has been arrested at his home in North London in connection with the incident.
Mr Forbes had only arrived in the capital the previous day to take up a job as a joiner.
He had gone from Kings Cross Station to a pub called the Rocket on Euston Road where he spent Saturday evening.
It was during the early hours of Sunday, as he stood outside the premises, the incident took place.
Mr Forbes was rushed to hospital for treatment but his condition worsened and he became critically ill.
He was connected to a life support machine but passed away on Friday night.
A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
His grief-stricken parents had kept a vigil at his bedside after travelling south from their home.
They were joined by their son and daughter and Mr Forbes’ girlfriend.
A family friend said they were travelling back to Dundee yesterday.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said an incident room had opened at Hendon under Detective Chief Inspector Andy Chalmers of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command.
