The second skiff for the Wormit community took a major step forward when it was “turned over”.
The vessel was flipped so internal fitting could commence.
The 22ft St Ayles skiff is the second for the Fife town after Catalina was launched in September. Skiffs are built using a wooden kit, like a full-sized Airfix model.
Once the outer hull has been completed, construction of the interior of the boat can begin.
The turning over was celebrated with coffee and a home-baked Dundee cake presented by Ralph Knowles, lead builder of Broughty Ferry Rowing Club’s competing Brochty.
Wormit and Broughty Ferry clubs were involved in a friendly wager to see who could launch their skiff first, with Broughty Ferry winning.
Since Catalina was launched, local interest has grown steadily, with up to 17 people attending sessions for new rowers.
