Power cut in parts of Fife could be down to bird strike

Scottish Power has apologised to several hundred customers who lost power to their homes and businesses in part of the East Neuk and St Andrews area this morning.
The energy company was alerted to a problem at 7am and at first thought a bird striking overhead power cables was the problem.
Engineers said later, however, that a bird strike could not be confirmed but there had been an overhead fault.
A Scottish Power spokeswoman said: “We received around 20 calls from the KY16 area and everyone had their power back on by 8.52am. We would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience.”
