More than 90% of taxis in west Fife passed safety inspections first time.
New figures show 92% of operators have maintained their vehicles to an acceptable standard.
While the pass rate is high it has actually fallen since August, when 100% of operators passed with flying colours.
Fife Council’s fleet operations manager, Tom Henderson said: “It is slightly disappointing to report that the first-time pass rate has dropped since August 2014,” he said. “However, the pass rate of 92% is still very high and this shows that the operators are continuing to maintain their cars to the very high standards expected.”
Councillor Tom Adams, chairman of the regulation and licensing committee said any operator whose cars did not meet the required standard would be brought before members, adding: “Although the pass rate was 92% this time, down from 100%, we are not unduly worried about it because it’s not that bad.”
