End of an era as plug is pulled on Singing Kettle shop in Fife
ByThe Courier Reporter
An end of an era came about when the Singing Kettle shop in Kingskettle closed its doors after a successful closing-down sale.
Singing Kettle founder Artie Trezise said the shop had been incredibly busy over the weekend as people snapped up souvenirs.
Original props have also been put on eBay, including an original giant Singing Kettle, which sold at the weekend for £1,700.
Artie and his wife Cilla Fisher retired from the Singing Kettle two years ago, but it has continued to run with cast members Kevin Macleod and Gary Coupland, who were joined by new recruit Anya Scott-Rodgers. The final Kettle show is on February 15 in Aberdeen.
Kevin, Gary and Anya will continue to work together in a group called Funbox.
Artie and Cilla are due to have a meeting with Fife Cultural Trust to seek support for a proposed Singing Kettle touring exhibition.
In the meantime, Artie is looking forward to touring with his new venture, Artie’s Tartan Tales, which will feature storytelling and a number of Singing Kettle songs.
Artie is also planning a What’s Inside the Singing Kettle? show for adults.
