Fundraisers at start line of Fife Relay for Life drive

The local fundraising branch of Cancer Research UK joined forces with Dunfermline High School to launch its Relay for Life initiative.
This will be the ninth annual fundraiser and the Dalgety Bay event has so far raised more than £500,000 for the charity.
The volunteers who co-ordinate the relay at Dalgety Bay Sports Centre already have this year’s event to be staged in June well in hand.
More than 200 participants have already pledged to join in to celebrate, remember and fight back against the disease, organiser David Quinn said.
Teams raise funds throughout the year then come together for the overnight relay. While team members take it in turns to walk the track, there is music and entertainment.
It is staged overnight to signify that cancer never sleeps. Survivors do the first lap of honour and it ends with a final lap done by all the participants.
Mr Quinn said the open night to launch the event was held to highlight ongoing work in the community to fight cancer and raise awareness and support.
