Homes in East Neuk of Fife left without water for second time in a week

Households in the East Neuk of Fife found themselves without water for the second time this week, as a result of “third party damage” to a previously repaired burst pipe.
Scottish Water warned customers in Pittenweem and surrounding areas to expect a loss of water supply, low pressure, and discoloured water throughout the evening while repairs were carried out.
A spokeswoman said: “We have a squad on site to assist with the necessary repairs and are working hard to restore supplies as soon as possible.”
She added that water would be “tankered in” to meet the necessary demand.
On Monday, around 250 households and businesses in Pittenweem, Elie, St Monans, Abercrombie, Kilconquhar, Earlsferry and Colinsburgh were affected by a burst water main.
The leak also caused Elie Primary, St Monans Primary and St Monans Nursery to close their doors to pupils.
The problem was the result of a nine-inch main in a field near Viewforth Place.
