Police closed Kirkcaldy’s Tesco store and surrounding roads on Thursday evening amid fears a woman might jump off the roof of the building.
Concerned crowds gathered below as police officers tried to coax the distressed woman safely down from the roof, which is where the store’s car park is situated, during the incident which unfolded just after 6pm.
Both Hunter Street and St Brycedale Road were closed to oncoming traffic between 6.15pm and 7pm and a large police presence was visible in the area during that time.
The Tesco store itself was also closed for around 20 minutes before the woman taken to safety.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “I can confirm we attended an incident at Tesco which involved a female on the roof of the store.
“The roads were closed while officers carried out their duties and the incident was eventually resolved safely.”
