The serious accident took place at the height of the evening rush hour, just south of the Balfarg junction on the A92. The road was closed for several hours as ambulance crews treated the casualty before removing them to hospital under a police escort. Police have released few details about the casualty, but their injuries are understood to be life threatening. The incident brought severe delays to what is one of Fife’s busiest roads, with traffic diverted via Western Avenue and Cadham Road in Glenrothes.
