The 19-year-old driver was rushed to Ninewells Hospital, in Dundee, after his car left the road between Pitscottie and St Andrews on Wednesday night. His black Ford Fiesta landed on its roof in a ditch at the side of the C65 near Ladeddie. Two female passengers aged 16 and 17 also sustained minor injuries. No other vehicle was involved. Police Scotland has appealed for witnesses to the incident, which occurred around 7.15pm. Inspector Brenda Sinclair said: “We are asking anyone who saw this accident or the car or who can assist us with information to get in touch. “We would also like to remind people travelling on rural roads to drive to the road conditions and to expect the unexpected. “There may be a deer or a farm animal in the middle of the road round the next the bend.” The road was closed for several hours while emergency services attended, but reopened later in the evening.
