Justice minister Kenny MacAskill has visited Kennoway to help open new sports facilities.
He was joined by MSP Tricia Marwick to unveil the £350,000 changing rooms at Cotlands Park, which are set to take amateur football in the area into the big time.
Having used temporary facilities for four years, the new premises have been met with delight by members of the community who hope a new era for sport will follow.
As well as local fund-raising and a donation from Fife Council, £100,000 came from Cashback For Communities, under the remit of Mr MacAskill.
He was invited to Sunday’s opening by Mrs Marwick, who said, “The new facility is looking wonderful and I am so pleased that the SNP Government supported this project by providing a grant as part of its Cashback For Communities scheme.
“These new changing rooms will improve the sporting facilities on offer in the Levenmouth area and provide a boost to the whole Kennoway community.”
She added, “Chairperson Bob McPhail and all the guys at Kennoway Sports Association do a great amount of work and deserve huge credit for this project.”
